Fixed-scope review

MIS Assessment & Development Roadmap

An independent review for companies that run an in-house built MIS and need to know whether to stabilize it, modernize it or replace it.

Who it is for

You will recognize at least one of these

  • The system was built years ago and only one or two people understand it.
  • Every new request takes longer and breaks something else.
  • Documentation is thin, outdated or missing.
  • Reports need manual work in spreadsheets to be trusted.
  • Leadership is unsure whether to keep, rebuild or replace the system.

What we assess

Six areas, in plain business terms

Business coverage

Which processes the system supports, and where people work outside it.

Data and reporting

Data quality, duplicate records and whether management reports can be trusted.

Technology and code

Platform age, structure and how easy the system is to change safely.

Security and access

User roles, approvals, audit trails and backup arrangements.

Documentation and knowledge

What is written down, and how dependent the system is on individuals.

Team and support

Skills in the team, support arrangements and the cost of keeping things running.

What you receive

A clear decision, not just a report

  • Assessment report

Findings in plain language, ranked by business impact and risk.

  • Development roadmap

Options to stabilize, modernize or replace, with a recommended path, phasing and effort.

  • Executive readout

A live session with leadership to walk through the findings and answer questions.

How it runs

Four steps, with no surprises

  1. 1

    Scoping call

A short conversation to confirm scope and fee. No obligation.

  2. 2

    Interviews and walk-throughs

We talk to users and the people who maintain the system.

  3. 3

    Analysis

We review the system, data and documentation and rank what we find.

  4. 4

    Report and readout

A written report and roadmap, then a live session with leadership.

Common questions

About the MIS assessment

What is an in-house MIS?

It is a management information system built for your company, often by an internal developer or a small outside team, that runs processes such as sales, stock, production, accounts or HR.

Will you recommend replacing our system?

Only if the evidence supports it. Many in-house systems can be stabilized and extended at a fraction of the cost of a replacement. The roadmap sets out each option honestly.

Do you need access to our source code and data?

We need read access to the system and a walk-through with the people who maintain it. We agree what access is appropriate, and keep your information confidential.

Can you also carry out the roadmap?

Yes, as a separate engagement. The assessment stands on its own, so you are free to take the roadmap to any partner.

Want a clear plan for your MIS?

Start with a short call. Fee is fixed and agreed before any work begins.
